5.22.2010 If you missed last summer's tour, you've got a chance to redeem yourself on June 25 in Baltimore at the Insubordination Festival. Fest info here.
In other MPLS news, demos for album #2 are flowing like magma. Here's a blip.

8.11.09 The album has dropped! CD out on Dirtnap Records and the LP will be out in September on Deranged Records.
We leave for tour on Friday and the dates and shows are listed here. If you want to keep up to date on our tour, JD keeps a twitter. Though, be warned that he might just write about his cats. Or, more likely, while drunk. And right about now I'm tasting neon as I've inhaled unholy amounts of Krylon to make many of these.
5.28.09 The recordings are off to the mastering house. The record is out of our hands now and it feels good.
Linked is a rough draft of one of the songs from the A side entitled Rooftops & Bus Stops.
3.18.09 Back from FL for our second recording session for the LP... This time, we did 13 new songs and shot a video. But the work came after a cruise to the Bahamas. Weird, yeah. But it was fun.
Bonus: No open container laws in The Bahamas.
2.1.09
As we’ve done the past few years, we played the Idiotarod afterparty. And, as always, it was wild. During 1grl8whls, about 15 Gotham Girls rushed the stage, dancing and singing along, which nearly got us thrown out. Our pal Rench unexpectedly joined us on stage to free-style a verse during Sat Suz.
12.13.2008 The Hollywood Underground singles just came in and they look amazing (don't sound too bad either). Here are the numbers (400 on white, 200 on red, and 100 on clear). Also, it was pressed in Germany, so the vinyl is really thick. Thank You, Rami! Check out other Killer records releases here: http://www.myspace.com/kilrec
10.19.2008 Last week the MPLS INTL discography essentially doubled, no wait, doubled point six because one record has 3 songs on it.
The Saturday Suzie ep is currently issued on hot pink wax and could possibly be the quintessential MPLS record...for now, anyway. Three songs recorded off the cuff the day before the exodus to Florida. So yeah, spirits were crazy.
The Real Kid single hails from Canada's Deranged Records and contains the exquisite masterpiece never thought to be released on a 45 due to its over-a-minute introduction, The World Hates Me. Not to be missed. Pick them up NOW from the merch page or directly from the labels: www.derangedrecords.com and www.mutantpop.com
We just got the test pressings for the Hollywood Underground single on Killer Records and gave it a flying thumbs up, so stay tuned for that before the end of the year. Currently in the works is the full length which is slated as a Summer 2009 release. What a long way off, right??? You'll be watching the new Star Trek movie by then!!!
7.23.2008 - 20 songs The boys came down the St. Pete for a weekend of drinking whiskey in the pool and to ambitiously record basic tracks for 18 songs we had sketches for. Well, the 18 became 20 (where those extra songs came from, I don't know). Nice job, fellas.
Two new singles are about to drop. The Saturday Suzie triple A side 7" on Mutant Pop and The Real Kid / The World Hates Me 7" on mother ship, Deranged Records. Heads up, these should be out in a few weeks, tops!
Lastly, we just saw a great review in Razorcake (the only zine that matters, some people say). Read it here.
5.12.2008 - upcoming releases!!! A few new singles will be appearing sometime this summer. On Deranged Records, The Real Kid b/w The World Hates Me. Mutant Pop is releasing a TRIPLE A-side: Saturday Suzie, 1Grl8Whls and Something Happening Here.
Sometime in Aug/Sept, Killer Records of Finland will be releasing the single we thought would have come before any of these...Hollywood Underground b/w Gotta Run Home (new recordings). Heads up!
3.30.2008 Since The Impulse is now International, we've added a new Global Updates section below: mpls fla, mpls bk, and mpls jcnj--so you can to keep tabs on your favorite Impulse Int'l member. Find out all the exciting news like... how Adam resolved his Algae problem, what Jeff wore to work on Thursday, and who Rob met at the movies last week.
3.10.2008 - new single out now!!! Double A Side, (though the actual vinyl says A and B but whatever). Two songs, one about ex-bands and one about ex-girlfriends. To order, paypal JD some bread...or order the damn thing from the label Deranged Records and be sure to order something from The Tranzmitors and The Marvelous Darlings They're both awesome.
Check out the new photos and mp3s in the audio/visual section. The Idiotarod was possibly the best show I've ever played. Scary Marie Antoinette was dancing on stage with us...DJ Country Oscar took a guest vocal in Ev'rywhere I go I rock'n'roll...and there were two chicks MAKING OUT in the front of the stage while we were playing. I mean, its not like I was getting turned on or anything (I'm a professional), but that shit NEVER happens! It was awesome!
12.4.2007 click the tiger for your Christmas present!
This Holiday season the Impulse Int'l wanted to give something back to the people, so please feel free to enjoy the following 3 minute blast of Impulse Int'l holiday cheer, entitled All I want for Christmas (not to be confused with the other Christmas songs with the same name, I hope THEY don't threaten to sue us...). So click the Christmas Tiger above to begin celebrating.
11.16.2007 The Impulse Int'l is the NEW iMPULSE (long story) and the new single is the Arm the Girls / Run and Hide DOUBLE "A" SIDE. Deranged Records of British Columbia was savvy enough to pick up the Impulse Int'l after the first single dropped, and acquired two tracks so HOT that they could could only be released with two SIDE A's. As a bonus, the talented UK artist X-Ray Vision agreed to do the cover artwork. DO NOT MISS THIS RECORD! Official release date: TBA
5.29.2007
The iMPULSE single is OUT NOW!
Order yours from the 4sale page while you can still get one one gold vinyl (first 50).
The record release show was a smash! Dancing on the speakers, dancing on the bar, and the party bus was in full effect! Thanks to Joe and Niel for being so cool about us busting the mic stand...and to whoever bought the Get ready to go! DVD, if you are reading this, email Adam (adam@the-impulse.com), and he'll send you one that has audio on the "behind the scenes" segment. There was a glitch, but now its fixed. And very special thanks to Chris and Helen for hosting a most rockin' after-party. DJ Mark iPoded hip hop, and Jeff and Adam drunkenly raced to the bottom of a yard long Twizler. More photos to come...
5.20.2007 iMPULSE RECORD RELEASE SHOW THIS SATURDAY (5/26) The show is at the Corkscrew, the newest Jersey City hot spot which is also the hardest to get to unless you have wheels. So here's the plan: If you want to go, email Adam (adam@the-impulse.com) and we'll reserve a seat for you in the iMPULSE van. We'll meet at the Grove Street PATH Station at 9:30 PM, refreshments will be served, and we will 'road trip' to the venue (and you won't even have to help us load in). You will recieve a copy of the record and a limited edition iMPULSE DVD with the Get Ready to Go! video and lots of crazy bonus footage. After the show, the van will drop you off back at the PATH Station and you will have made iMPULSE rock'n'roll history. RSVP now because space is limited!
4.25.2007 A few big hits of MPLS news.
Uno - The final cut of the Get Ready to Go video is posted on the "av" page. There are alternate versions posted on youtube which I bet we're all too lazy to take down.
Dos - Impulse T-shirts are in production. (and by "in production" I mean that we bought some shirts and ink, made a screen, and found a squeegee in the utility closet.
Tres - The test pressings of the first MPLS 7" should be here next week (is this really news?)
Cuatro - Our biggest show to date is coming up next Friday at the Knitting Factory. Buy tickets now because it is 3/4ths sold out. Bitchin.
3.31.2007 We've had a few questions about how to get in to this Friday's show for free. Here's how:
1) send an email to rsvp@newyorkunderbelly.com,
2) say anything with the words "The Impulse" in your subject heading, and
3) you'll be on our guest list.
When you show up on Friday (we play at 9:00, sharp), tell them that you are there to see us and are on the New York Underbelly list. Be sure to load up on the free vodka drinks between 9-10.
Since we're playing during most of the open bar, you might think about buying us a shot after we play... just a suggestion.
3.23.2007 There's lots of stuff in the works... split 7" with Boy/Girl, final cut of the Get Ready to Go video, new demos, t-shirts.
Also, the rumors that we turned down General Motors request to use our song Run & Hide in a Hummer ad are true. Full details later.
3.5.2007 Today we are learning how to update the website.
2.24.2007 Hello and welcome to the new Impulse website. It goes like this: band, show, demo-tape, myspace page, real website. Got it? Well, we're on Level 5 or whatever. Actual web page. If you are under 14 years old, and this sort of thing makes you uncomfortable, feel free to click the link to the lower left.
So here is the game plan, in the invasion section (you're reading it), we'll post relevant band update info. new recordings, special events, pulled teeth, blah blah blah. Hopefully we'll get some images in here, too, because all I'm looking at right now is black and red (and some white and a little blue).
I think A/V stands for "Action and Volume." That's where we post mp3s (the volume) and videos (the action). Photos will be on that page, too...I guess those are considered "still action."
Us is the ever evolving bio page. If it wasn't "ever evolving" then we wouldn't be alive and you would have no reason to visit it more than once.
Action is where we post about all our upcoming shows...that's really pretty straight forward.
Connect=contact info (clever, huh?). though it is really just three email addresses...
Shout! is a guestbook. Do we really need this part? Do people still sign guestbooks? I don't. Maybe if we called it a testimonial book people would write about what great dancers we are.
Moblog stands for "Mobile Blog." This was Jeff's idea and its really pretty cool. We can update this section of the site from our mobile phones. So that means...up to the minute info. Damn fast.
So let's see what happens as we cast this vessel out to sea. Will she float? Will we update? Does anybody hear that sound? I'm actually kind of excited to find out.
